Three giant panda cases of constipation have been successfully treated with integrative therapeutic methods (iv fluids and herbal medicine). Fan Xie Ye - Senna with water (Senna: water= 1:8) was boiled for about 20 minutes to make water extract of Senna. Senna water extract (mixed with honey) was orally administered (0.2 to 0.3 g per one Kg body weight). Three Giant pandas had a normal stool 2-3 days after the integrative therapy.

Senna (Fan Xie Ye) for the treatment of constipation in giant panda was reported by Drs Wang, Li and Tang: Integrative therapies for the treatment of constipation in giant panda in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. (3): 63-64, 2007.
