Chronic Asthma / Heaves in Broodmare Treated with TCVM

Chronic Asthma / Heaves in Broodmare Treated with TCVM

By Barbara Allard Ward, DVM, CVA, CVTP

Abstract:  A 13 year old broodmare with chronic asthma/heaves has a deformed foal, the deformity suspected to be secondary to a marked “heave line”.  Treatment with Chinese herbal therapy and other traditional Chinese veterinary medicine modalities was successful in managing the “heaves”.  Subsequent foals were normal.

Signalment:  “One Hot Mama”, 13 year old thoroughbred mare.  Bred March 23 and is in foal.

Owner’s complaint:  Chronic cough.  Occasional thick, yellow nasal discharge.  Cough worse in winter.

Head Shaking Resolved with Shen Calmer

- Testimonial By Peggy Magsum

My quarter horse Sam is 24 years old. In Dec, 2008 he developed  head shaking. I thought it was due to a shot that he received. I called in a vet to look at him and the doctor could not really find anything wrong, except Sam seemed to be aggressive.

An accidental Shen Calmer overdoes with good result

by Claudia Fonterrada,DVM

Since the dog was 4 months old, she has separation anxiety and, in addition to destroying furniture, she eats her own feces.  Western treatments were tried, without ever having any responses.  She is a Fire/Wood dog and always gets deeply hurt when yelled at.  She has some Yin Deficiency signs (since she was a puppy her legs are red at night and she dreams a lot) and Jing Deficiency (retrognathia)
